Liked the Sony Reader, but
LOVE my iPad.
Problem: ebooks purchased from Sony, although they have an epub extension cannot be read by Apple's iBooks app. They are DRM protected and in a different format, so Sony ebooks can only be read by Sony readers.
BUMMER!
Here's a work around I found browsing Apple's forums
1. Create an account at txtr.com. It's free!
2. Upload your Sony ebook files to your text collection. This will convert your ebooks to pdf format.
3. Download the txtr reader app from the iTunes App store to your Apple device. It's free!
4. Start the app and sign in with the account you just created. You may have to get or activate your Adobe ID first and put it the apps settings.
5. Download your Sony ebooks to the txtr reader.
6. Voila'! You now can read your Sony purchased ebooks on your Apple device!
My mother-in-law now has the Sony Reader. I now have 3 apps, iBooks, Kindle, and txtr installed on my iphone 4 and iPad, to read ebooks. Haven't installed NOOK the reader for Barnes & Noble...apparently the app has bugs!!!
