Not So Hot But Windy!

Had a good late afternoon/early evening ride going about 40.4 mi in 2:43. Temp didn't get above 82 degrees but the wind was gusty. There were very unusua-looking clouds to the east. lNot too many people on the Legacy River or Village Creek trails. Had to dodge quite a bit of debris from the storms yesterday. Lots of leaf litter, tree branches, wooly catepillars, grasshoppers, 3 armadillos, and a squirrel on the path. A huge fallen branch blocked the trail on Green Oaks and Fielder. Has to walk my Trek around that one! Legs were sore, and breathing was a little bit more uncomfortable towards the end of the ride. That's what I get for laying off riding for the last month...

How to get Sony Reader ebooks on your iPhone, iPad

Liked the Sony Reader, but LOVE my iPad.

Problem: ebooks purchased from Sony, although they have an epub extension cannot be read by Apple's iBooks app. They are DRM protected and in a different format, so Sony ebooks can only be read by Sony readers. BUMMER!

Here's a work around I found browsing Apple's forums
1. Create an account at txtr.com. It's free!
2. Upload your Sony ebook files to your text collection. This will convert your ebooks to pdf format.
3. Download the txtr reader app from the iTunes App store to your Apple device. It's free!
4. Start the app and sign in with the account you just created. You may have to get or activate your Adobe ID first and put it the apps settings.
5. Download your Sony ebooks to the txtr reader.
6. Voila'! You now can read your Sony purchased ebooks on your Apple device!

My mother-in-law now has the Sony Reader. I now have 3 apps, iBooks, Kindle, and txtr installed on my iphone 4 and iPad, to read ebooks. Haven't installed NOOK the reader for Barnes & Noble...apparently the app has bugs!!!

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Dr. Brown

So after aggravating my carpal tunnel syndrome on my bike rides and playing the piano, I'm wearing my old Rollerblade wrist guard as a splint this weekend...Nothing like pain and numbness in your thumb and forefinger! Don't think I want this dude working on me though...  Dr. Brown doesn't appear to be as nice as he is on his commercials!

The Hunger Games

So my wife Ali finished reading this first book by Suzanne Collins in the series. I think she's hooked. They don't have it at Half Price Books yet...

2010 Hotter-N-Hell Bike Ride, Wichita Falls, TX

Had an absolute blast during the Hotter-N-Hell Hundred last Saturday. Started the ride with 70 degrees, and a tail wind. The first 40 miles flew by. I did not see any crashes in front of me this year (last year there was 7 in first 25 mi). Went through Hell's Gate in Burkburnett at 60 mi in 3:09. Felt some fatigue at 80 mi.... Did the last 40 mi in 2:46 with 97 degrees and nasty S headwind. Glad I put my 6th HHH BEHIND me...why yes, my butt is sore!
